Prelude
Do you remember
when we were strong,
and the world was young,
before time unfolded?
Do you remember the word,
which hung in the crystal air
as clear as a bell,
before light exploded,
flooding the Eastern slopes
of the distant hills?
And how, like stars, we fell
into the living dawn,
to be borne
like scattered seed
on a quiet ocean?
And do you remember
the wind
that rose
like a whisper,
following those
first seconds of wonder?
When the last of the long
black shadows hung
on the cool earth
as the word faded
like thunder
and the mists lifted?
How caught in the current
we drifted on
as light spread over
the restless water?
We were young then my friend.
As young as the world...
